Michael completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Exercise Science at The University of Toronto, a Master of Science (MSc) in Physiotherapy at McMaster University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Kinesiology at The University of Guelph. He is also a Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CSEP-CEP) with a Specialization in High Performance.
Michael has developed periodized training and seasonal plans for recreational and competitive triathletes for race distances up to and including ironman. He has prepared athletes for national and international level competition.
A significant portion of Michael’s physiotherapy practice involves the assessment and treatment of active individuals. His practice focus is working with endurance athletes (runners, swimmers, and cyclists), as well as youth and junior athletes. Michael uses exercise-based rehabilitation to address the risk factors associated with the development of injury.
Michael’s primary research focus is on optimizing exercise prescription to maximize endurance sport performance. He also conducts research on the risk factors associated with the development of sport and orthopaedic conditions to create injury risk screening tools to guide clinical practice.

I am a physical therapist and on a mission to help PTs improve runners outcomes. In case we haven't met yet, here's a little about me:
- I started running in middle school and haven't stopped!
- I'm an outpatient PT specializing in the analysis and treatment of runners
- I started a cash based running gait analysis clinic using both in-person and virtual models
- I've been a faculty member at UCSF and UOP teaching future PTs for >10 years
- I'm passionate about teaching continuing education and firmly believe in providing clinical pearls that PTs can use in daily practice
- I treat runners everyday looking to get out of pain and return to running. My goal is that everyone can run until 100!
