Tendinopathy Rehab for Runners

Tendinopathies are among the most challenging injuries faced by runners, requiring precise load management and up-to-date strategies that extend far beyond rest and stretching. This course provides an evidence-based approach to designing and progressing tendon rehabilitation programs specifically for the running population. Topics include the optimal use of body weight and external load, the role of blood flow restriction (BFR) training, low-compression exercise options, and the latest insights on isometric versus progressive tendon loading. Participants will learn how to apply progressive load testing and tailored exercise dosing to reduce pain, restore tendon capacity, and guide runners safely back to performance.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Determine appropriate loading strategies for tendon rehabilitation, including the role of body weight, external resistance, and progressive load testing.

  2. Incorporate blood flow restriction (BFR) training into tendinopathy rehab to improve strength and tolerance while reducing pain.

  3. Design low-compression exercise options for Achilles and other running-related tendinopathies to decrease pain during rehabilitation.

  4. Evaluate the evidence on isometric exercises compared to progressive loading and apply these strategies appropriately across rehab phases.

  5. Implement progressive tendon loading protocols that build tissue capacity, reduce reinjury risk, and support return-to-run performance.

CE Approval: This course is approved for 4 hours

What People Are Saying:

The Running Specialist Report has been very helpful for me when working with runners in the clinic. It takes the latest research and makes it very simple to read.
